BRANDON, S.D. (KELO.com) — The City of Brandon is looking to annex into city limits a farm that has been in the Elofson family for 143 years.
Dave Elofson said that the city informed him of its intent via a letter back in March of 2021.
He is against the annexation, saying that there is nothing the city can offer via infrastructure that he doesn’t already have, and that it is just an attempt to increase their tax base.
Elofson has hired a lawyer and has vowed to continue fighting to remain unannexed.
Both he and the Brandon City Council are awaiting a forthcoming report from the South Eastern Council of Governments before they make their next moves.
