SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Two family dogs died in a mobile home fire on Orwin Place in Sioux Falls Monday morning.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded at about 10 a.m. No one was home when fire units arrived. They encountered heavy smoke and fire.
No civilians or firefighters were injured.
The fire is under investigation.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota: At approximately 10:00 this morning Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire on Orwin Pl. First arriving units discovered heavy smoke and fire from the residence. The occupants were not home when Sioux Falls Fire Rescue arrived on scene.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue personnel on scene encountered fire conditions in the mobile home, performing extinguishment and search. Unfortunately, the home owners 2 dogs did perish in the fire. There were no civilian or responder injuries. Approximately two hours were spent ensuring there was no further extension in the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Five fire trucks, 2 support vehicles and 23 personnel from Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted by: Metro Communications, PatientCare EMS, the Sioux Falls Police Department, MidAmerican Energy, Xcel Energy, and the Red Cross.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents of the importance of checking smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors for proper functioning, and practicing home escape plans.
