FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Amazon says employees will be on the job Sunday at its new Fargo Fulfillment Center near Hector International Airport.
General Manager John Sabo says the building, the largest in North Dakota, is more than 1 million square feet. He says Fargo’s low unemployment rate and shipping options through FedEx and UPS at the airport were factors in the decision to build.
“It is helpful for a lot of different businesses, one of the things that we are trying to do is kind of expand our own logistics side, but being partners with UPS and FedEx is part of how we get packages to customers, so we will continue those partnerships to again keep, keep gettin’ things going,” Sabo said at the site Thursday.
Human Resources Manager Ashley Moran says with ongoing hiring events, Amazon will meet its workforce projections. “We are ramping up, it changes every single day, we’re on track, but yes the goal would be a thousand people, fully staffed, this building would be at 1,400.”
Starting pay is $15.00 an hour and up, depending on the position. The company offers paid health insurance and other benefits.
Amazon plans to begin shipping from Fargo October 3.
