SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — August made up for a rather quiet severe weather season. The National Weather Service of Sioux Falls reports 94 severe thunderstorm warnings for August. The most for the month since 2002. There were 15 tornado warnings in August.
The weather service also says although it’s not expected in the near future, we are approaching the first frost and freeze of the season. On average, the first frost for Sioux Falls occurs on September 24 and the first freeze on September 30th.
