SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakota is the most dependent state in the nation upon agriculture to fuel its economy.
That’s according to a new study by Commodity.com.
The analysis found that farming accounts for 5.78% of total South Dakota GDP.
That compares to just 0.63% of the total U.S. GDP.
Farming jobs also contribute 5.07% of total employment in South Dakota, compared to 1.28% of all U.S. jobs.
