Gov. Kristi Noem (R-S.D.)
PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — Governor Kristi Noem is taking the next step in an abortion case.
Friday, following a District Court ruling in Planned Parenthood v. Noem, that a pregnant woman does not have to consult with a pregnancy help center before an abortion, Governor Noem announced that the State of South Dakota will appeal the ruling to the United States 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.
The District Court refused to dissolve an injunction concerning a 2011 law requiring that a pregnant woman consult with a pregnancy help center, before deciding whether to abort her unborn child.
