SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) –The wildland fire potential outlook has been released for August. The southeastern corner of the state is normal while the rest of South Dakota shows a greater than usual likelihood of significant wildland fires.
The National Interagency Fire Center says 85% of wildfires are preventable and threaten lives, property and precious natural resources. The center advises to learn how to properly use outdoor equipment, burn debris safely, make sure campfires are fully extinguished, and maintain vehicles to prevent sparks.
