SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — In accordance with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation’s water quality policies, Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center, located at 3401 East 49th Street, will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, July 28 and 29, 2021, due to a diarrhea incident today. (sic)
Swimming lessons scheduled for Thursday, July 2, will take place at the Midco® Aquatic Center at their regularly scheduled times.
An incident of this nature requires the implementation of a disinfection process that requires maintaining elevated chlorine levels for a period of 25 hours before reopening to the public. This procedure is based on guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center is anticipated to reopen on Friday, July 30, at 9:45 a.m. for swimming lessons and open swim beginning at 1 p.m.
All other outdoor aquatic facilities will be open their regularly scheduled hours.

The Midco® Aquatic Center is also open for their regularly scheduled hours of 5:30 a.m.–8 p.m.
