SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Look to the skies for possible rain and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening.
There’s even a chance of high winds and hail.
The Sioux Falls National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for most of the KELO Radio listening area:
DAY ONE…
This afternoon, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop in southeast South Dakota and southwest Minnesota, gradually tracking into northwestern Iowa and far northeastern Nebraska. A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, with the main threats being quarter size hail, wind gusts to 70 mph, and locally heavy rainfall.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…
Wednesday through Monday. Additional thunderstorms are possible on Thursday night through Saturday. There is a chance for severe weather on Friday afternoon and night, but confidence is low in any details at this time.
The NWS tweeted that radar-indicated rainfall in the area Monday night ranged from 1.5-2 inches in Miller, 0.25-0.50 inches in Sioux Falls, and less than 0.1 inches in Brookings, Madison, and Beresford. (See NWS tweet below.)
