HAMLIN COUNTY, S.D. (KELO.com) — Saturday was a busy day for firefighters in South Dakota.
Around 11:00pm Saturday night, Castlewood and Hayti Fire Departments were called to two large grass fires. The fires were along SD Highway 22 between US Highway 81 and Thomas, northwest of Castlewood. The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene. The department said the highway was reduced to single lane traffic for over an hour.
A cause of the fire is still unknown.
