BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A task force established by the South Dakota legislature to look at efficiencies in the state’s university system continues their work.
They met Thursday at South Dakota State University in Brookings.
The legislature mandated the task force to produce a report on operational efficiencies by the Board of Regents.
Regents Executive Director Brian Maher says they’ve done a great deal but there is still work to do.
The study includes possible consolidation of administrative services, the elimination of duplicate programs, and what to do with the university
centers.
That includes what is now called the Community College of Sioux Falls.
Maher says work will begin immediately on the task force recommendations.
He says they’re also planning a series of town halls on the findings and what they will mean for the state’s universities.
The final report from the task force is due to the Governor and Legislature in November.
