SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A new report by the Associated General Contractors shows mostly double-digit increases in construction jobs in the Northern Plains from February 2020 to April 2021.
Sioux Falls had the 32nd best positive change of any metro area during that period.
The city saw an increase of 1,000 construction jobs for a 12% increase.
Statewide, the percentage gain was even better, 4,000 new jobs and a 19% increase during the same period.
Here’s how regional states did:
- South Dakota: +19% change, 4,000 new jobs.
- North Dakota: +12% change, 2,700 new jobs.
- Nebraska: +9% change, 4,700 new jobs.
- Minnesota: +8% change, 8,600 new jobs.
- Montana: +13% change, 3,400 new jobs.
- Iowa: +12% change, 7,800 new jobs.
- Wyoming: -8%, loss of 1,600 jobs.
