SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police are investigating a fatal accident where a man was run over by his own car this afternoon (Tuesday) after a traffic accident.
Police say the 41-year-old Sioux Falls man struck the back of another vehicle near 6th and Cleveland.
When he got out to investigate, his car went into reverse, went in circles, and ran over him.
The authorities have not released the victim’s name.

On Tuesday, May 11, around 1:20 p.m., a 2014 Jeep Cherokee was stopped in traffic on N. Cleveland Avenue about 1/2 block north of 6th Street. While the Jeep was waiting to make a left turn, a 2001 Honda Accord driving north on Cleveland Avenue struck the back of the stopped Jeep.
As the Honda driver stepped out of his car, the car began driving backwards. The driver was caught under the Honda as it began making circles while in reverse. At some point, the man was freed from the car and then run over by the car. The Honda eventually stopped after hitting a 2002 Chevy Silverado. The man died from the injuries he received. The victim is a 41-year-old man from Sioux Falls. His name will be withheld pending notification of relatives.
