PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Department of Health says influenza activity continues to be at a sporadic level.
The department says there were two new confirmed flu cases in the past week, both in Pennington County.
There were no new hospitalizations or deaths from the flu.
There have been two flu deaths in South Dakota this flu season.

Influenza activity was at “SPORADIC” level in South Dakota during the past week.
- Two new confirmed* cases of influenza were reported last week (Pennington County) *Lab confirmed: PCR, culture or DFA. Total of 68 (38 A/30 B) confirmed cases so far this season.
- 0.96% positive rapid antigen tests reported statewide (2 positives (0A/2B) [Potter & Yankton Counties] out of 209 individuals tested last week). Total 6,872 tests performed so far this season.
- Zero new influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported last week. Total of 7 hospitalizations so far this season.
- Zero new influenza-associated deaths were reported last week. Total of 2 deaths so far this season.
