SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Every week it seems there is a new scam to watch out for.
Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says most scammers are out of the country, making them hard to catch.
He says it’s even harder to prosecute them if they are found.
It is also unlikely that the victim will ever see their money again, according to Clemens.
Clemens says the best offense to scammers is a good defense.
He says the scammers will try to make you act like things are urgent.
Clemens says the best thing you can do is hang up.
Then do your research to see if the caller is legitimate.
