SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man whose skid loader ended up in a farm pond.
Before first responders arrived, family and neighbors tried to use other equipment to get the skid loader out of pond.
After the skid loader was pulled ashore, they found the victim, a man.
The victim was airlifted to a hospital but he died at the scene.
The incident happened in the Dell Rapids and Colton area.
The authorities have not released the victim’s name. They say they will have more details on the incident later.

On 04/14/2021 at 5:17pm The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, Colton Fire, Dells Ambulance, and the Department of Emergency Management, were dispatched to a report of a farm accident, a skid loader driving into water.
Before emergency responders arrived, family members and neighbors were able to use other equipment to remove the skid loader from a farm pond. After the skid loader was removed, a male victim was found. Family members and emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, including dispatching Life Flight who also responded to the scene. Ultimately these measures were unsuccessful and the victim died at the scene.
The cause of the accident is under investigation and further details will be available at a later date.
