PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — Gov. Kristi Noem and Sen. Mike Rounds joined other Republicans in denouncing executive orders from President Joe Biden that impose certain gun restrictions.
Biden announced the new restrictions Thursday. The new measures include plans for the Justice Department to crack down on self-assembled “ghost guns” and make “stabilizing braces” – which effectively turn pistols into rifles – subject to registration under the National Firearms Act.
Biden said he will ask the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to release an annual report on firearms trafficking in the United States, and make it easier for states to adopt “red flag” laws that flag at-risk individuals who own guns.
Noem said on Twitter the laws infringe on the Second Amendment.
“Taking away guns with Red Flag laws is an infringement. Placing new limits on firearms sales is an infringement. Curbing ammo purchases is an infringement,” the governor tweeted.
Biden claims that his actions won't infringe on the 2nd Amendment. That's false.

Rounds, in Mitchell for a Rotary Club event, took specific issue with “red flag” laws.
“They focus on people that legally could have guns,” Rounds said. “What they should be focusing on are the individuals that have been adjudicated as not being allowed to have guns.”
Biden, a Democrat who has a long history of advocating for gun restrictions, has come under pressure to step up action after recent mass shootings in Colorado and Georgia.
