VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO.com) — The University of South Dakota broke ground on a new health sciences building on its Vermillion campus yesterday.
The three-story, forty-five thousand square foot building will connect to the Andrew Lee Medical Building. USD President Sheila Gestring said it’s a transformational project.
“Interprofessional health care has become increasingly important, and being able to connect with the school of medicine and have all health professions housed in one location is just critical to the future of higher education in health care,” Gestring said.
Gestring said the building will house a number of health specialties, including nursing, physical therapy and health sciences.
The building, being built in the parking lot of the Lee Building, is scheduled to be done in the fall of 2022.
