PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Denver, Colorado, man who pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute a
Controlled Substance was sentenced on March 2, 2021.
James Renwick, age 59, was sentenced to 15 1/2 years in federal prison,
followed by five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to
the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Authorities say from approximately September 2019 to December of that year, Renwick
brought methamphetamine to South Dakota from Colorado. Renwick then
dispersed the methamphetamine to others for use or additional distribution.
The case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing
together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce
violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
Renwick is now in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
