SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The name of the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash in northwestern Sioux Falls has been released.
According to the news release, Fethawi Nigussie Gebrestadic, 21, was killed when the Chevy Impala he was driving east on W. 60th Street N. veered into the other lane and collided with a 2021 Freightliner truck on 7:53 a.m. Feb. 17, the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the Freightliner traveling westbound was not injured.
The investigation determined that the eastbound Chevy Impala crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and the vehicles collided, nearly head on.
The release stated the crash is still under investigation.

Updated Release:On February 17th 2021 at 0753 hours the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Crooks Fire Department, Patient Care Ambulance, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol responded to a 2-vehicle crash near the intersection of W. 60th St N and N. La Mesa Drive. The driver of an eastbound Chevy Impala was killed in the crash. That driver is identified as GEBRESTADIC, FETHAWI NIGUSSIE (DOB: 01-16-2000). The second vehicle, a 2021 Freightliner truck was traveling westbound. The driver of the Freightliner was not injured. The investigation determined that the eastbound Chevy Impala crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and the vehicles collided, near head-on. This incident is still under investigation.
