SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office has issued a news release with more information about the Wednesday morning fatal crash west of Sioux Falls.
The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle fatal accident at SD Highway 38 and N. La Mesa Drive, west of Sioux Falls. On 2/17/21 at 7:53 a.m. a 2009 Chevrolet Impala collided head-on with a garbage truck on SD Highway 38, approximately one-quarter mile east of the intersection of SD Highway 38 and N. La Mesa Drive. The Impala was being driven by a 21-year-old male. The driver of the Impala was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the garbage truck was not injured.
The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident. The Sioux Falls Police Department, The South Dakota Highway Patrol, Crooks Fire and Rescue, and Med Star Ambulance all assisted with this incident.

Authorities say the accident involves a garbage truck and a car.
Deputies were dispatched about 7:53 a.m.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office did not release any other details, such as the name of the victim or if road conditions were a factor in the accident.
