SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls man was arrested and is in custody charged with First Degree Manslaughter and felony possession of a firearm for an incident that occurred last year.
In Wednesday’s police briefing, Lieutenant Terrance Mattea gave an update on a homicide in 2020.
A burglary was reported on October 21, 2020, on the 1500 block of S. Doodler Drive in Sioux Falls. When officers arrived they discovered that there was a disagreement between two people that led to a shooting.
Marcus Anderson shot Jerrel King while in Anderson’s residence. Anderson was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital where he died a week later from injuries from a gunshot wound to the torso.
Anderson later acknowledged shooting King in an interview with police, but police had to wait on forensic evidence to show that the shooting was First Degree Manslaughter.
After receiving forensic evidence, Anderson was arrested Wednesday morning and is in custody now, charged with First Degree Manslaughter and felony position of a firearm.
