BRISTOL, S.D. (KELO.com) — A family member confirms on Facebook that the body of Amy Dougherty, who has been missing since December 23, 2020, has been found.
In an update to her Facebook page, her sister Amber Stanton, of Watertown wrote, “1/29/21 Amy has been recovered from the water.”
KELO.com News also has independent confirmation of the recovery.
There were no other details.
KELO.com News learned Thursday that there were a couple of divers looking for Amy in the Bristol area today. KELO.com news confirmed they recovered the body.
Radio colleague Troy VanDusen at KXLG radio contacted the Day County Sheriff’s Office earlier this evening. The sheriff’s office said they would comment on Monday.
Besides the Day County Sheriff’s Office, the South Dakota Civil Air Patrol, Codington County Search and Rescue, and a number of local volunteer fire departments participated in the search.
Family and authorities believe Amy got lost in a blizzard while on her way to work from her home in rural Amherst to Bristol.
