SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Three suspects in a late December homicide sit in the Minnehaha County jail.
The man and two women are accused of first-degree murder or other charges in the murder of Mitchell Houchins.
One of the suspects, Josue Emmanuel Hernandez, 21, of Sioux Falls, was arrested yesterday afternoon after an extensive police chase in central and western Sioux Falls.
The other two suspects were already in the Minnehaha County Jail.
Crystal Lorraine Mousseau, 28, of Sioux Falls, was arrested Monday and Susan Alice Sanchez, 29, of Sioux Falls, was arrested Saturday.
Police think the December 30 homicide occurred during a meth deal and that Houchins owed some of the defendants’ money. The incident occurred near West Pine Meadows Place and West Sandalwood Place.
Hernandez and Mousseau are charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and attempted robbery. Mousseau is held on a $500,000 bond.
Sanchez is charged with being an accessory to a crime, eluding law enforcement, and possession of a controlled substance. Sanchez is held on a $255,000 bond.
During the chase, there were two accidents but no one was hurt. Several police vehicles were damaged as was a civilian’s vehicle.
Police say they typically don’t engage in high-speed chases but in this instance, Hernandez was considered dangerous because of the homicide charge. The Minnehaha County Fugitive Task Force and other agencies were involved in serving the arrest warrant on Hernandez.
