SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — At 5:25 a.m. Thursday, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of a structure on fire at the corner of 9th Street and Fairfax Avenue.
Sioux Falls Police Department was the first on scene are reported visible flames from a detached garage. The first arriving fire engines found flames on the exterior of a two stall residential garage. The first crew on scene quickly extinguish the exterior fire. Another crew then confirmed there was no one inside the garage and that the fire did not extend into the interior. There was extensive fire damage to the exterior of one wall of the garage and light smoke damage inside. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 4 fire trucks, 3 support vehicles, and 21 personnel. SFFR was assisted on scene by Metro Communication, Sioux Falls Police Department, and PCEMS ambulance.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to encourage residents to clear dried vegetation from around structures to the reduce fuel and potential spread of exterior fires.
