SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police are still trying to figure out why a man entered Patrick Henry Middle School this morning.
At about 8:43 this morning as school was starting, a man entered the building and wandered around before being detained and taken to the office. He then left the building.
The School Resource Officer approached the man outside when the man started fighting and kicking the officer. There were no serious injuries in the altercation
Robert Wade Munk, 32, a transient from Sioux Falls, was taken into custody.
He was in possession of meth and charged with numerous offenses.
Officer Sam Clemens says this is an example of why it is important to have School Resource Officers on campus.
“We’re just glad to get him out of the school and arrested and away from the students,” said Clemens.
Police still have no idea why or what his intentions were for entering the school.
