SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – The Salvation Army will be holding it’s annual match day this Saturday.
For every $20.00 dropped into a red kettle the amount will be matched by $80.00 turning the donation into $100.00. Marcie Priestley with the Salvation Army told Kelo radio’s Greg Belfrage this year the need is higher than in past years due to Covid-19. The organization has seen an increase for food assistance, the Salvation Army does have an emergency food pantry open to anyone every 30 days. The organization also runs a program called Sally’s table, which is a weekend feeding program. The program is offered every Saturday and Sunday evening for to-go meals only.
The organization did just wrap up its Christmas assistance application process which saw an additional 200 applications, Priestley says that equates to over 4,000 people 2,500 of those are children.
