SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Link will be a safe location where people experiencing a nonviolent behavioral health crisis or needing care for substance/alcohol abuse can access immediate treatment and referral to support services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Link will offer:
- Assessment―This process allows The Link team to identify the appropriate care that an individual needs and to make any necessary referrals for ongoing services.
- Detoxification Services―Detox involves 24-hour supervision and support for individuals who are intoxicated or experiencing withdrawal.
- Sobering Services―The sobering center at The Link will be a safe place for someone who is intoxicated who come to, or who are brought to, the triage center.
- Medication-Assisted Treatment―This type of treatment, often referred to as MAT, uses medications along with therapy to treat substance use disorders and help an individual get on a path to recovery.
- Behavioral Health Crisis Services―Individuals may come to the triage center in a mental health crisis situation, so this evaluation process helps determine the proper care plan, which may include a short stay at The Link and referrals to outpatient services.
At full capacity, The Link will be equipped to treat 16+ individuals at one time, depending on the services needed at any given time. The length of stay will vary, depending on the service level needed. Length of stay could be from several hours to several days.
The Link is set to be open by the end of 2020 or very early in 2021.
