PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — A mysterious VIP jet was spotted landing at the Pierre airport Friday.
Who was aboard? That’s the mystery.
A social media post (see below) shows what appears to be a Gulfstream IV in official diplomatic colors emblazoned with the words ‘United States of American’ on the side. The color scheme – or livery – is the same pattern used on Air Force One, the Presidential 747.
The US Air Force also operates a fleet of civilian VIP jets to move the Vice President, high ranking state department officials and a select few cabinet members – including U.S. Attorney General William Barr.
Unconfirmed reports are that it was Barr who got off the plane and headed north out of the Capitol City, the same route and routine locals know to be a quick exit from Pierre to a private hunting preserve to the north in Potter County frequented by former Vice President Dick Cheney and many other top elected officials.
Ian Fury, communications spokesperson for Governor Kristi Noem, says he had “no knowledge” of a VIP visit or any connection with the Governor’s Office.
The blue and white jet didn’t overnight in Pierre, it departed soon after its mysterious passenger had cleared the field.
