SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The National Weather Services has now placed the Sioux Falls metro area under a Winter Storm Warning.

COUNTIES: Lyon-Murray-Cottonwood-Nobles-Pipestone-Rock-Minnehaha
…WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CST THIS EVENING…
* WHAT…Heavy snow. Storm total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches. Locally higher amounts remain possible.
* WHERE…Portions of southeast South Dakota and southwest Minnesota.
* WHEN…Until 9 PM CST this evening. * IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
