Almost a third of the active cases of COVID-19 in the state are in the Sioux Falls area, with Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties accounting for almost forty five hundred cases.
Dr Mike Elliot is the Chief Medical Officer at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Elliot says the pandemic is pushing their capacity and staff.
Elliot says their staff is stretched and stressed and then they go out into public and see few people wearing masks.
The State Department of Health is reporting four hundred eighty people now hospitalized and four hundred forty-six deaths.
