SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Today at 5 pm is the deadline to register to vote in the November election in South Dakota.
Secretary of State Steve Barnett is encouraging people to head to their county auditor and get registered.
Once registered, voters can make their choices by voting absentee, voting early at a county auditor’s office or in-person on November 3rd at their polling location.
About a quarter of registered voters in the state have already voted so far.
Barnett says that as of Sunday, there are over 631,000 registered voters in South Dakota. He says there are also already more than 125,000 absentee ballots cast for this election.
On the Secretary of State’s website, you can find the voter registration form, the form to request an absentee ballot and track the progress of your ballot.
