SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — There are scams, then there are scams that turn it up a notch to 11.
The Sioux Falls Police say someone was spoofing their front desk phone number.
The scammers told the people they called to call the SFPD and contact a detective about a case.
Officer Sam Clemens said most of the calls to the police came from out of state but even a few were from Sioux Falls.
Clemens says he doesn’t think the scammers asked for any money or personally identifiable information.
He says if you get a suspicious call like this, call you local law enforcement agency.
