SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) –Jury trials in the Second Circuit will resume on October 13, 2020.
This was the second time jury trials have been put on pause due to COVID-19. The Second Circuit said it would be postponing jury trials back on September. 22 due to an increase in coronavirus cases. Trials were being held back in June after first postponing Jury trials back in March.
The presiding judge will be Robin J. Houwman, of the Second Judicial Circuit.
Criterion released to continue forth with court proceedings:
- No confirmed COVID-19 cases of Courthouse staff related to trials in the last 14 days,
- No Executive or SD DOH orders related to the particular county, and
- Continued consultation with local health officials.
The Second Circuit says it will modify procedures when deemed necessary.
