SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The final stretch of Veterans Parkway, what used to be called Highway 100, will be completed in a $208 million project, most of it paid for by the state.
The money will finish the southern link from 57th Street to Interstate 29 near Tea.
Mayor Paul Tenhaken says the project, discussed for decades, will be “transformational” for the region.
City Councilor Greg Neitzert says some folks wondered if it would ever happen in 50 years, and now it’s going to happen.
Councilor Rick Kiley is also excited by the announcement.
“It was a while ago, that some people were saying that it would never be done….”
The new high-speed road is expected to lead to more economic growth and better traffic patterns on the ever-expanding east side and southside of Sioux Falls.
