Pierre, S.D. (KELO.com) — Early voting for the November 3rd General Election begins tomorrow in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa when absentee ballots will be mailed out.
According to the South Dakota Secretary of State website, if you’re unable to attend your polling place in person on Election Day, you may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. To vote by absentee ballot, a voter must request an absentee ballot application from your County Election Official. The County Election Official will send a paper absentee ballot to the voter. The voter then completes the ballot and returns it to the County Election Official by mail or in person.
Secretary of State Steve Barnett says voters can ask for an absentee ballot to be sent to them by downloading the application to request a ballot online. He says keeping everyone safe during the process is a priority.
Election officials must receive your application for absentee ballot no later than 5 p.m. the day before the election.
The same applies in Minnesota and Iowa.
Also you’ll be able to Track your Absentee Ballot online. In Minnesota you can track your ballot here. And in Iowa, track your ballot here.
Voter registration deadline in South Dakota is October 19th.
