SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — According to a WalletHub study the city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota had one of the best rebounds in unemployment.
Amid the pandemic, research showed a 150.85% change in unemployment from July 2019 to July 2020. It was reported that 6,615 were reportedly unemployed this year compared to 2,637 back in July 2019, which was ranked as the 81st best recovery in the states. A 77.92% change occurred from January of this year to July, with an estimated 3,718 (January) reported as unemployed to 6,615 in July. And as of July 2020, Sioux Falls recorded a 6% (Adjusted rate 6.53%) official unemployment rate placing the midwest city 9th amongst the lowest unemployment rates in the U.S.
The national unemployment rate is currently at 10.2%, which is 31% lower than the peak of 14.7% during the height of the pandemic. The study used new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which disclosed that it erroneously didn’t count many workers on temporary layoff as unemployed.
