PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), invites all Native American veterans in South Dakota to join him for a free webinar regarding the Native American Direct Loan (NADL) Reform. The listening session, to take place Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. CT/9:00 a.m. MT, includes a panel of veterans who will share their insights into making meaningful reforms to the NADL Program.
NADL, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, is a program intended to give Native American veterans living on trust land an opportunity to become homeowners. However, management issues within NADL have made it challenging for Native American veterans to utilize the program effectively. Rounds, in conjunction with the South Dakota Native Homeownership Coalition, has been working to make meaningful reforms to the program. The Sept. 3 listening session provides an opportunity for him to hear firsthand from Native American veterans who have faced challenges with NADL.
