SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — UPDATE: Sioux Falls police are still not 100% sure how it happened, but a 23-year old man is dead following an altercation with a pickup Friday night at midnight at West 41st and Carolyn near the Empire Mall.
The driver of the pickup is the 23-year-old girlfriend of the deceased.
The two evidently had an argument before the accident.
Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says the victim was outside of the vehicle when it happened.
“We’re not sure of the placement or what happened. There’s a lot of things we’re working on at this point.”
Police are looking for surveillance video from area businesses.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls man is killed in a pedestrian accident around midnight near the Empire Mall.
According to the Sioux Falls Police, at 11:58 Thursday night a pickup/pedestrian crash occurred at West 41st and South Carolyn Avenue.
A 23-year-old male Sioux Falls resident was found deceased on the scene.
Police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. Overnight officers used the department’s drone to help reconstruct the crash scene.
The victim’s name is being withheld until family notifications are complete.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota: On August 27 th 2020, at 11:58 PM emergency personnel
responded to W. 41 st St / S. Carolyn Ave for what is believed to be a pickup vs pedestrian
crash. A 23 year old male Sioux Falls resident was found deceased on scene. The
circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation which is ongoing at this
time. The victim’s identity is being withheld until notifications to family are complete.
