SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol into the murder on Melissa Peskey of Hartford continues.
Sgt. S.M. Griggs with the MSHP sent the following update to KELO.com News after a request for information on the case:
“The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control continues to investigate the death of Melissa Peskey, having developed over 200 criminal leads to date. At this time, there has been no arrests made. It is our purpose/goal to give friends and family peace and closure on the loss of their loved one, as well as ensure justice is served for this criminal act. We continue to work with multiple law enforcement agencies spanning several states, and our investigators have visited multiple states, during this investigation. Each lead is receiving the utmost attention, in hopes it will be the lead that will solve this case or generate further leads. As you can tell by the increase in leads, new leads have been developed.”

Peskey, 40, was shot on Interstate 70 at mile marker number 96 in Cooper County, Missouri on December 13, 2018. An autopsy found she died from a gunshot wound fired from outside her vehicle. Peskey’s two children were in the vehicle at the time of the homicide but were unharmed.
Griggs says he can’t comment on specifics about the case as it is still under investigation.
“However, I can assure you the members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Division of Drug and Crime Control, want to bring this investigation to a close and are exhausting all resources,” Griggs said. “To my knowledge, there is still a reward of $10,000.00, which was put up by Melissa’s family and friends.”
Griggs says they’re still looking for information.
