SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — In an eleven-page report the Sioux Falls School District fleshed out changes coming this fall to schools around the county due to COVID-19. The district refers to the changes as the ‘Return To Learn’ (R2L) Plan.
Amongst some of the changes is a questionnaire parents are required to fill out every morning before sending their child or children to school. Questions range from, does your child have new or worsening shortness of breath? To, does your child have a new loss of taste or smell? Parents are not required to send the questionnaire to school.
The report also includes a PPE guidance chart that encourages the use of personal protective equipment but does not make it mandatory with only a few exceptions. Exceptions include public-facing staff (i.e.receptionist/clerical) unless a plexiglass partition is in place, staff who must go into homes or who are working hands-on (less than 6 ft) with a student continuously for 15 minutes or greater. Nurses who care for COVID-19 symptomatic students and staff or performing asthmatic healthcare procedures (i.e. nebulizers), and custodians who clean areas where persons with COVID-19 or person suspected of COVID-19 have been.
Other sections in the report listed new modes of operations within child nutrition services, facility and maintenance, technology and connectivity, building practices, and transportation.
Details of the District’s ‘Return to Learn’ Plan will be reviewed at the next School Board meeting, Monday, July 13, at 5:30 at the Learning Center.
