SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Face masks will not be mandatory when Sioux Falls public schools children return to class this fall.
The School District’s Carly Uthe says masks will be strongly recommended and encouraged, but not absolutely required.
Details of the District’s ‘Return to Learn’ Plan will be reviewed at the next School Board meeting, Monday, July 13, at 5:30 at the Learning Center.
It will be the first meeting for Sioux Falls’ new School Superintendent, Jane Stavem. Stavem replaced Brian Maher at the beginning of July. Maher is now the Executive Director of the South Dakota State Board of Regents.
Students have been remote learning because of COVID-19.
The Trump Administration is strongly encouraging that all school systems return to face-to-face learning in the fall.
