SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — On July 4th, 2020, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 600 block of South 3rd Avenue.
Initial reports were that there was a fire in the garage behind an apartment complex. Firefighters arrived and found smoke and flames coming from a five stall detached garage. They were able to quickly start applying water to the fire and keep it from spreading to a nearby apartment building. The fire was extinguished in approximately fifteen minutes. Firefighters remained on-scene for several hours to conduct an investigation and ensure the fire was out.
There were no injuries reported from either residents or responders. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire trucks, two support vehicles, and twenty-three firefighters.
