SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Fire Rescue respond to a house fire early this morning.
At about 2 o’clock Wednesday morning, a house fire was reported in the 1200 block of East 8th Street.
Residents were able to exit, but several pets were still reported inside. Two cats and one dog died due to smoke from the fire. No residents or responders were injured.
Crews remained on the scene for several hours.
The fire is under investigation.

At 1:58 a.m., June 24, 2020, Wednesday morning, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of a house fire in the 1200 block of E 8th St.
The first-arriving crew reported light smoke showing. Residents were able to exit but there were several pets still reported inside. Crews were able to enter the house and extinguish a basement fire in about 10 minutes. Two cats and one dog perished due to smoke from the fire, no residents or responders were injured.
Crews remained on scene for several hours, the fire is still under investigation.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with four trucks, three support vehicles, and 20 firefighters. We were assisted on scene by Metro Communications, Sioux Falls Police, Xcel Energy, Mid-American Energy, Animal Control, and Patient Care Ambulance.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind all residents to have properly placed and working smoke detectors, and have an evacuation plan.
