SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — City Councilor Theresa Stehly has filed for a recount in her re-election bid for her at-large council seat.
Canvassed election results put her 109 votes behind challenger Alex Jensen.
Stehly, a Republican, is represented by former U.S. Attorney Randy Seiler, who ran for South Dakota Attorney General as a Democrat in 2018. City elections in Sioux Falls are non-partisan.
Below is Stehly’s statement that accompanied her letter to the City Clerk requested the recount.

Councilor Theresa Stehly filed official paperwork for a municipal recount of the 2020 At-Large race on Friday June 12.
Today, Monday June 15, Stehly is announcing her representative on the recount board is former U.S. Attorney for South Dakota, Randy Seiler.
Stehly stated “In this non partisan municipal recount, I am honored to have the expertise of Attorney Seiler representing the best interests of the citizens and protecting the sanctity of the electoral process.”
