PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — State health officials appear pleased with precautions South Dakota’s food and meat processors have taken after the initial round of coronavirus cases.
State epidemiologist Josh Clayton says they know more than they did in March and April.
He also says the CDC and USDA have helped with their guidelines.
Health Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon says the companies have shown good leadership with their plant changes.

At the Jack Links plant in Alpena and the Dakota Provisions plant in Huron, they’ve seen about half of their infected workers recover. The Alpena and Huron plants saw their coronavirus spike about a month later than the Smithfield plant’s.
