SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Two fires broke out Wednesday night in southeastern Sioux Falls. The houses were near Robert Frost Elementary School near 41st Street along I-229.
The first fire was a house fire in Sioux Falls last night causes minor damage.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 3005 1st Avenue Wednesday evening at 8:10.
Smoke was coming from the basement and first floor with a portion of the basement on fire.
Crews rapidly extinguished the fire and conducted a quick search to ensure all occupants were out of the house.
The fire was extinguished in a matter of minutes and there were no injuries reported.
The fire was contained to the basement, however, there was smoke damage throughout the home.
The second fire started about 9:05 PM at 604 E. 41st Street.
The basement of this house also caught on fire. It took more than 10 minutes to put the fire out.
The homeowner suffered from minor smoke inhalation and was treated by paramedics.
Two dogs were rescued by crews as well.
Brunette said a cat may have got out of the house, but it wasn’t found by firefighters. The house also received smoke damage.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota: On Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at approximately 8:10 p.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 3005 S 1st Ave.
First arriving crews found smoke coming from the basement and first floor. Upon entry, fire crews found a portion of the basement on fire. Crews rapidly extinguished the fire and conducted a quick search of the structure to ensure all occupants were out of the house.
Fire crews had the fire extinguished in a matter of a few minutes. Crews remained on scene for an additional hour to complete overhaul and ventilation operations, ensuring all hot spots had been extinguished and all the smoke was removed from the home. There were no injuries reported at this incident and all occupants safely exited the structure prior to SFFR arrival.
The fire was contained to the basement, however, there was smoke damage throughout the home.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 4 fire trucks, 2 support vehicles, and 18 firefighters. The home did not have a sprinkler system. The fire is under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted on scene by Sioux Falls Police Department, XCEL Energy, MidAmerican, and Red Cross.

On Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at approximately 9:05 p.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 604 E 41st St.
First arriving crews found heavy smoke coming from the basement and first floor of the structure. Upon entry, fire crews found the basement on fire. Fire crews knocked the main body of the fire down and conducted a quick search of the structure to ensure all occupants were out of the house. A second crew entered the structure to remove 2 dogs and a cat. 2 dogs were safely reunited with the owners.
Fire crews had the fire extinguished in 13 minutes. Crews remained on scene for an additional hour to complete overhaul and ventilation operations, ensuring all hot spots had been extinguished and all the smoke was removed from the home. The homeowner reported minor smoke inhalation and was treated on scene by PCLS Ambulance. There were no firefighter injuries reported at this incident and all occupants safely exited the structure prior to SFFR arrival. It is unknown if the cat had exited the structure, it was not found by fire personnel.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted on scene by Sioux Falls Police Department, PCLS Ambulance, XCEL Energy, MidAmerican, and Red Cross.
