SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Minor damage and pets rescued from a residential fire yesterday afternoon in Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 4428 E. Lexington Circle at 3:03 Thursday afternoon.
Upon arrival, the first crew extinguished a minor fire in the garage and home while another crew performed a search of the residence.
A cat and five kittens were rescued and no one was injured.

On Thursday, May 21, 2020, 3:03 p.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 4428 E. Lexington Circle.
First arriving crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from an attached garage. A resident confirmed there were no occupants currently inside the residence. The first fire crew began extinguishing the fire in the garage while another crew performed a search of the residence. The fire was quickly extinguished with minor fire extension into the residence. A cat and five kittens were rescued from the residence. The garage received major damage while the house received minor damage, resulting in the occupants being displaced. Crews performed overhaul operations to assist with the investigation of the fire origin.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire apparatus, three support vehicles, and a total of 22 personnel. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted by Sioux Falls Police Department, Paramedics Plus Ambulance, Sioux Falls Animal Control, Mid-American Energy, Xcel Energy, and the Red Cross.
There was no report of firefighter or civilian injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to practice fire safety and make sure all smoke detectors are working properly.
