SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — All city-imposed restrictions on Sioux Falls businesses could be lifted by the end of the month.
Mayor Paul TenHaken says all the medical data in Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties on the coronavirus is trending down, so it’s time.
“Our total new cases confirmed per day have consistently decreased since the 9th of May,” reports TenHaken in an email to City Councilors, “total hospitalized cases per day have followed that same general trend.”
City Council gets its first look at his proposal at Tuesday night’s meeting. The city’s first COVID-19 ordinance essentially kept customers from going inside most businesses. That ordinance was replaced by loosened restrictions on patron limits. This new proposal would repeal the current ordinance to remove limits entirely.
If Council concurs, bars, restaurants, and other similar businesses will be free and clear of restrictions May 29.
