SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Street construction update:
Western Avenue Street Closure – North of 41st Street
Beginning on Monday, May 18, 2020, Western Avenue north of 41st Street will be closed as part of the next phase of the reconstruction of the intersection of 41st Street and Western Avenue. Western Avenue south of 41st Street will remain open to traffic, as will 41st Street.
Work will include underground utility upgrades, street light and traffic signal improvements, reconstruction of the intersection surfacing with additional left and right turn lanes, and improvements to sidewalks and accessible curb ramps.
Western Avenue north of 41st Street is expected to reopen to traffic in approximately four weeks, weather permitting.
This project is expected to be fully open to traffic by late fall of 2020. Some minor work will continue into the spring of 2021.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closures – 60th Street North and Cliff Avenue
Beginning on Monday, May 18, 2020, utility work will be performed on a manhole on 60th Street North just east of Cliff Avenue.
Traffic will be maintained around the repair areas, and lanes will be shifted and narrowed through the work zone.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete by Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
